What are your hours?

We are open 7 days a week 8-5..  The mining area closes 30 minutes before this. So you will have time to browse the gift shop before you leave.

What will I find?

We only mine the clear and white quartz crystal.  You can also expect to find some interesting pieces of sand stone.

Can I go into the actual pit and watch the miners?

Insurance prohibits anyone except employees into the actual pit.  You will be able to go through the tailings which are brought up by dump truck and front-end loader.  You can overlook the pit from the tailings area and can usually see the mining from there.

What does it cost?

The fee is $20 per day for adults, $5 for children 7-16, under 7 is free.  We have a senior price of $15.  There are no additional charges, which means you keep all you find with no charge.

Is there a guarantee?

The adult fee is guaranteed in that if you don't think you have found $20 worth of material you can pick $20 worth of quartz from our pavilion.

What clothes should I wear and what should I bring?

Wear old clothes and old shoes or boots,  you will get very dirty with a red clay which stains and does not wash out.

You are welcome to bring any digging tools you like, but you are furnished a burlap sack for collecting which is yours to keep and a pry bar for scraping which we ask that you return.

When is the best time to come?

Collecting is wise any time after a hard rain, the temperature is best in April-May and again in late October.

What accommodations are available?

We have an onsite RV park with 12 full hookup spaces and 10 electric and water only spaces.  These have 30 amp service and a shower building with Laundromat.  The fee is $12.50 per night and we do not take reservations.  There  is also a Holiday Inn Express clone called the Village Inn located 4 miles away.  The phone number there is 1-888-922-9601.

Where are you located?

We are located 16 miles North of Hot Springs, Arkansas on Highway 7.  Coming from Hot Springs you will come through a signal light at Hot Springs Village from there in 2 miles you will see Coleman's Rock Shop on the left.  Turn left immediately beside it and follow the signs for 2 more miles to Ron Coleman Mining Inc.

Coming from Russellville when you pass the town of Jessieville (the school is all you will see) watch for Coleman's Rock Shop on the right in about 2 miles.  Turn right immediately before it and follow the signs for 2 more miles.
